8 Days Tanzania safari - African Nature Safari

8 Days Tanzania safari - African Nature Safari

Are you looking for the best Tanzania Safari that takes you close to the beautiful African nature? This Tanzania Close to Nature safari tour will take you to the Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a shallow but huge soda lake, located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The size of the park makes it perfect for a one-day game drive and is notably famous for it’s tree-climbing lions.

This Tanzania safari tour will also take you to the Serengeti National Park, a massive wilderness of 14500 square km, where every day brings a new landscape and a new adventure. Your African safari tour will also take you to the Ngorongoro Crater and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Tanzania, featuring one of the highest concentrations of game and arguably the densest population of predators and carnivores in Africa. Here you will witness an amazing spectacle of African wildlife inside a self-contained world teeming with animals. Finally, your African safari tour will also take you to the Tarangire National Park, which features some of the greatest concentration of game in Tanzania second only to the Ngorongoro Crater but less crowded and unspoiled possessing a wild and unkempt beauty.

Itinerary

ARRIVAL DAY

Upon your arrival you will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your arranged hotel in Moshi/Arusha town. You will meet your guide who will brief you on your upcoming Safari tour. You will spend the rest of your time at your own leisure and relaxation.

DAY 1: MOSHI /ARUSHA – LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

You will meet our professional tour guide/driver in Arusha/Moshi, who will deliver a short safari briefing, after which, we travel to the Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara is a beautiful little park which is famous for its tree-climbing lions, elephants and large troops of baboons. The park is home to an amazing variety of birds and animals considering its small size. A short visit to this serene park will greatly diversify your safari experience as the lush green jungle habitat is of stark contrast to the other parks you will visit during your safari, in the late afternoon you drive to Manyara town for overnight.

DAYS 2 & 3: WESTERN SERENGETI (GRUMETI)

Drive to the western corridor of Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous game parks in Africa. Enjoy an afternoon game drive on the Grumeti River circuit, heading back to the lodge/campsite for late afternoon tea followed by dinner. Later in the evening, venture out to explore the nocturnal sights and sounds of Serengeti on a night game drive, when the bush truly comes to life! On day 3, you have the chance to explore the Grumeti Corridor on foot, getting closer to nature and into the wild. Learn about the flora and fauna and the wide variety of animals living here. Return to the lodge for late lunch and a little relaxation.

DAY 4: CENTRAL SERENGETI

After breakfast this morning, you will head to Central Serengeti. Your guide will choose the best wildlife viewing locations for the time of year. Spend time at the hippo pool, watching these enormous animals laze about in the cool water alongside the crocodiles, watch a lion stalking its prey or be staggered by the scale of the great wildebeest migration. The journey from wide, open plains to the kopjes, volcanic rocky outcrops that provide protection and shelter for a wide variety of animals. This diverse and interesting landscape will provide you with the ultimate in-game viewing.

DAYS 5 & 6: NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA

Another chance to explore on foot, this time soaking up the history and atmosphere of the Olduvai Gorge, the Cradle of Mankind. One of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world, it has proven invaluable in furthering understanding of early human evolution. This walking tour will extend to the Shifting Sand Dunes, formed by volcanic ash; the Ol Karien Gorge where Ruppel’s Griffon Vultures can be seen soaring high above; and Nasera Rock, a monolith that provides climbers with magnificent views of the plains nearby. Here you can enjoy your picnic lunch. In the late afternoon continue with your driver to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.

On the morning of day six, you will drive for a short distance to Empakaai Crater, where you will be treated to splendid views and hopefully a glimpse of Ol Doinyo L’Engai, Tanzania’s only active volcano. You will descent into the Empakaai Crater, taking approximately 30 minutes. There is superb birding around the lake and buffalo, hyena and elephant can be spotted. After 2 to 3 hours of walking in Empakaai, jump back in the car to head to Olmoti Crater for your final hike of the day. At Olmoti, a Maasai name meaning cooking pot, you will have the chance to see Maasai herders grazing their cattle and soak up views of the beautiful highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The gentle ascent takes you through mountain forest, grassland, and rocky outcrops.

DAY 7: NGORONGORO CRATER - TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Today you will journey into the heart of the wondrous Ngorongoro Crater. Spend the full day on the crater floor. Ngorongoro is unique in that almost all the wildlife lives within the crater walls; hence you have the opportunity to find the game easily. Rhino in particular can be seen regularly, as well as prides of lion and other predators like cheetah. Enjoy lunch by the hippo pond and later commence your drive to Tarangire National Park.

DAYS 8: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK -  ARUSHA/MOSHI

Tarangire is a sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lions, leopards, cheetah, and up to six thousand elephants. Day 8 is flexible, and you can choose to either split your day into morning and afternoon game drives with lunch back at camp or a full-day game drive because this is your last chance to enjoy the beautiful wildlife of Tanzania. Late noon after lunch you will drive back to your hotel in Arusha/Moshi.
