HOW MUCH DOES SAFARI COST IN TANZANIA?
Tanzania is chosen as the world’s best safari country and has most of attractive destinations like Serengeti National park and Ngorongoro crater, but it is also an expensive country. Unfortunately, we cannot change that due to the fact that the cost for transport and the entry fees remain constant. What we can do is give you a breakdown of the costs of a safari, so you get a better understanding. How much does safari cost and which safari option can you choose?
Tanzania Safari Cost
The factors that make up for the total cost of a Tanzania safari are; Safari vehicle with private guide, entrance fees for the national parks and accommodation. The first two factors are fixed prices, unless you choose to share the safari vehicle with more people. The entrance fees for the national parks are expensive, for example the costs of driving with a safari jeep in the Ngorongoro crater are $300 per day. This makes a safari a costly journey. It is possible to save money on accommodation, depending on the level of luxury/exclusiveness you choose.
What is Included in Tanzania safari price?
For a full Tanzania safari packages; first we include your airport transfers in a private vehicle, both arrival and departure. However, you can plan to arrange all airport transfers by yourself if you want but it does not make it cheaper because we do not charge any extra cost on the airport transfer in your package. So it’s better if you arrange that with us.
Likewise applies to your accommodation you stay in Moshi/Arusha. We normally get our commissions from the lodge or hotel that you stay in and so booking with us will be more convenient. You will pay the same price if you book by yourself. In fact, you will get a better deal with us because we have very nice contract rates with most hotels and lodges in Tanzania.
We then include the cost of your Safari jeep (4x4 vehicle), Tanzania park entry fees, conservation fees, crater entry fee (where applicable), accommodation during safari in lodges and tented camps, (camping gear in case of a Tanzania camping safari), ranger fees where applicable, foods, and drinking water during safari.
Why One Tanzania Safari package cost higher than the other?
Mostly the cost of Tanzania safari is determined by the type of accommodation that you use on safari while the cost of transportation and entry fees remain constant to every safari. We have budget, mid-range, standard-luxury, and of course the up market lodges and tented camps. Most of lodges and tented camps work on full board (3 meals included) and a few have all-inclusive services.
Moreover, the duration of your safari in Tanzania and number of travelers traveling together determine the price of safari. For our private safari in Tanzania costs for the vehicle and crater entry fee are distributed among the adult participants. The price of a tour package therefore would be lower per person for a bigger group than for a solo traveler or a small group. We also offer a group discount for a bigger group.
Average Tanzania safari cost
When traveling to Tanzania for a wildlife safari you will find three options that are budget safari, mid-range safari, and luxury safari where you can choose depending on your budget. A no-frills safari in Tanzania with basic accommodations such as tents or budget hotels starts at $250 per person, per day. A mid-range safari with lodging runs from $400 per person, per day while a high-end luxury safari with all the trimmings ranges from $700 to about $1000 per person, per day. Why Choose Mid-range safari accommodation?
Our mid-range accommodation has the best price-quality balance. These hotels/lodges/ camps are located at beautiful locations with awesome views and a good service and price. The mid-range accommodation is surely no budget accommodation. If you choose a budget accommodation you can save around $30 – 50 per day, but you comprise on the quality and location. We always recommend our mid-range accommodations, so you can enjoy the accommodation at its fullest.
Low-Budget Accommodation
If you really want to overnight on budget, and the mid-range hotels are too expensive, we advise you to go for a camping safari. Tanzania has a lot of good camping sites where you can stay in small dome tents in the mid of wilderness while enjoying the fresh food for our chefs.
